2016 Meeting

The 2016 meeting of the NCPS will be a joint meeting with the South Carolina Society for Philosophy at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, on February 26-27. The keynote speaker will be L. A. Paul, Professor of Philosophy at UNC Chapel Hill, and Professorial Fellow in the Arché Research Centre at the University of St Andrews.

Travel

For driving directions to Appalachian State University, navigate to 287 Rivers St, Boone, NC 28608. All sessions will be on the campus of Appalachian State University.

For those traveling by plane to the conference, Boone is located approximately two hours from the major international airports in Charlotte, NC (Charlotte-Douglas International Airport) and in Greensboro/High Point, NC (Piedmont Triad International Airport), and the regional airport in Johnson City, TN (Tri-Cities Regional Airport.)

Lodging

The block of rooms is now past its expiration date (Feb. 5), but lodging may still be available at Boone Comfort Suites. It is located just under a mile from Greer Hall and is on the free bus route to campus. To check for any remaining availability, call Comfort Suites in Boone at (828) 268-0099. Conference rates are no longer available.

Campus Location of Conference Events

All meeting rooms, except the Keynote Address, will be in I.G. Greer Hall. The Keynote Address will be in Belk Library and Information Commons, lecture hall 114– a short walk from I.G. Greer. The reception after the keynote will be in I.G. Greer 224. Registration will be in the lobby of I.G. Greer.

Parking, Transportation, and Local Restaurants

A parking map is here. After 5 pm Friday and all day Saturday, non-faculty parking areas on campus and around I.G. Greer are open and free to the public. For those who wish to park before 5 pm on Friday, Rivers Street Parking is the best option for parking. The fee is $10 and you should pay (cash) when parking.

AppalCART provides free public bus transportation. The Teal Line runs between Comfort Suites and I.G. Hall.

Registration

Registration will be in the lobby of I.G. Greer on Friday and Saturday.  The registration fee (cash or check only) will be $5 for undergraduates, $15 for graduate students, and $25 for faculty. Please note that there is no advance registration.
