Hotels

The main hotel, Comfort Inn Executive Park, is full.

Participants who have not yet booked a room might try the overflow hotel, the Hampton Inn Charlotte-Belmont @ Montcross. (The rooms blocked for the conference, however, have been released.)

Driving Directions

Queens University of Charlotte is located at 1900 Selwyn Avenue in Charlotte. It is an easy 15 minutes in-town drive from the main hotel (Comfort Inn Executive Park). To get to the university from this hotel:

  1. Head northwest on Westpark Dr toward Griffith Rd; go for 0.4 mi.
  2. Turn right at Tyvola Rd; go for 0.7 mi.
  3. Turn left at South Blvd; go for 0.8 mi.
  4. Turn right at E Woodlawn Rd; go for 2.0 mi.
  5. Turn left at Selwyn Ave; go for about 1.3 mi to Queens University, which will be on the left.
  6. Turn left at Wellesley Ave; go to a parking lot per the directions below.

The Comfort Inn also has a complementary shuttle which will take people to and from Queens University. This shuttle (which can hold only 10 people) will be available for conference participants according to this schedule:

  • Friday around 1:00pm from the hotel to Queens
  • Friday at 11:00pm from Queens to the hotel
  • Saturday at 8:20am from the hotel to Queens
  • Saturday at 6:45pm from Queens to the hotel

Participants may also be able to arrange for a shuttle at other times, but please note that priority for the shuttle is given to airport pickups.

Those staying at the overflow hotel (Hampton Inn) can find driving directions here (Mapquest).

Parking and Session Locations

Sessions will be held in the Walker Science Building, the Dana Building, and the Sykes Learning Center, numbered (respectively) 2, 3, and 31 on this campus map. Participants may park anywhere in lots E or J except in those spaces reserved for faculty and staff. (Queens University has a number of Saturday classes and so needs to reserve those spaces.) Parking lot E, the closest, may be full early Friday afternoon, but there should be spaces there at other times. Please print out this parking pass (pdf) to put on your dashboard.
